I Wrote a Book

I haven’t been posting here as regularly as usual.  Did you miss me?  The reason I have been a little quiet and absent on my blog is that I’ve been working on something big.  I wrote a book.  The first draft is finished and it’s just being proof-read now.  I have to look at how to make it available, but I expect to be able to offer it as a print-on-demand or e-book.

The book started as a 15,000 word blog post, but I was so driven by the subject matter, that it turned into a 115,000 word book.  It’s a book about the dangers of not staying true to yourself and working on your dream, diligently and consistently.  You’d be surprised at what that can do to you.  I was.  More about this later, when it is more available, but suffice it to say that writing it has taken all month.  There’s a lot of neuroscience in it and some pretty alarming conclusions.

I learnt a lot, while writing the book and came to entirely different conclusions to what I thought I would, when I started the project.  It was also emotionally demanding to write, because I indentify with quite a lot of the subject matter (as do, I suspect, many artists).

Anyway, watch this space.  I hope to get the project up and out there soon-ish.  Now, it’s back to the music composition and building a web site to make it all available.  No rest for the wicked.  More about the book, as I get closer to knowing a release date.  It will be priced affordably and I hope the information does some genuine good for some people.

That’s enough of a teaser.  All will be revealed soon.  I hope.

About tropicaltheartist

You can find out more about me here: https://michaeltopic.wordpress.com/. There aren’t many people that exist in that conjunction of art, design, science and engineering, but this is where I live. I am an artist, a musician, a designer, a creator, a scientist, a technologist, an innovator and an engineer and I have a genuine, deep passion for each field. Most importantly, I am able to see the connections and similarities between each field of intellectual endeavour and apply the lessons I learn in one discipline to my other disciplines. To me, they are all part of the same continuum of creativity. I write about what I know, through my blogs, in the hope that something I write will resonate with a reader and help them enjoy their own creative life more fully. I am, in summary, a highly creative individual, but with the ability to get things done efficiently. Not all of these skills are valued by the world at large, but I am who I am and this is me. The opinions stated here are my own and not necessarily the opinion or position of my employer.

    Soooo dang proud of you!!!!

  3. I’m incredibly impressed by the volume of writing you have done on this blog and to think that you don’t even consider this to be ‘something big’ would make most people feel worse than lazy.

Great news! I’m a huge fan of your blog, I’m sure the book will be equally interesting and insightful! 🙂

    • Thank you for your comments. I’m glad you like what I write. The book should be full of stuff most people don’t realise. That was the reaction I had, while I was researching and writing it. I learnt a lot through the process of discovery.
