2012 in Review

It’s been a good year.  Thank you to everybody that stopped by and had a read.  I appreciate your attention.  Encouragingly, more of you came to this blog than ever before (more readers than on any one day before, just this week!) and it’s clear that many of you, after arriving at the site, stay and read other posts.  Thank you.  I am humbled that ideas I jotted down in a hurry, sometimes years ago, still command some kind of interest.

Hopefully, you’ve found the posts inspiring, thought provoking and even encouraging.  I hope they help you create more and do more art, with greater integrity and courage.  More than anything, I hope you have gone away with some creative ideas to help you starve less, as an artist.

More to come, though.  I have several new posts in development, as I write this.  I don’t know where they come from either, they just arrive and while they keep popping into my head, I am happy to take dictation.

You all seem to be quite interested in envisioning a better future, daydreaming and doing something nobody has done before.  My kind of people 🙂

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.  Take a look at the link below.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 16,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 4 Film Festivals

About tropicaltheartist

You can find out more about me here: https://michaeltopic.wordpress.com/. There aren’t many people that exist in that conjunction of art, design, science and engineering, but this is where I live. I am an artist, a musician, a designer, a creator, a scientist, a technologist, an innovator and an engineer and I have a genuine, deep passion for each field. Most importantly, I am able to see the connections and similarities between each field of intellectual endeavour and apply the lessons I learn in one discipline to my other disciplines. To me, they are all part of the same continuum of creativity. I write about what I know, through my blogs, in the hope that something I write will resonate with a reader and help them enjoy their own creative life more fully. I am, in summary, a highly creative individual, but with the ability to get things done efficiently. Not all of these skills are valued by the world at large, but I am who I am and this is me. The opinions stated here are my own and not necessarily the opinion or position of my employer.
