The Bitter Truth

Artists everywhere, for the sake of yourselves and for everybody that appreciates your art, please heed this:

  • Drugs are not actually good for you.
  • No human being can, in reality, withstand living the life of the mythical, stereotypical, tragic, tortured artist portrayed by the media.
  • Drugs can and inevitably will rob you of your artistic gifts and your ability to create work of lasting quality.
  • You are a valuable, beloved, unique and worthy human being, first and foremost.  You are an artist second.
  • Art borne of emotion, created with courageous originality and of indisputable quality, is immortal.  Artists are not.

So very, very sad you are no longer with us, Amy.  I was so hoping you would be.  You were a nice person.

About tropicaltheartist

You can find out more about me here: There aren’t many people that exist in that conjunction of art, design, science and engineering, but this is where I live. I am an artist, a musician, a designer, a creator, a scientist, a technologist, an innovator and an engineer and I have a genuine, deep passion for each field. Most importantly, I am able to see the connections and similarities between each field of intellectual endeavour and apply the lessons I learn in one discipline to my other disciplines. To me, they are all part of the same continuum of creativity. I write about what I know, through my blogs, in the hope that something I write will resonate with a reader and help them enjoy their own creative life more fully. I am, in summary, a highly creative individual, but with the ability to get things done efficiently. Not all of these skills are valued by the world at large, but I am who I am and this is me. The opinions stated here are my own and not necessarily the opinion or position of my employer.

  1. In old days, a decent therapy to overcome an addiction, lasted several months if not over a year and included to not remain in the environment connected with the problem and renouncing to the old style to make a cut with the past. I must have missed the evolution were people get send to holiday resorts to detox and go back to work direct after it.

But, as we live in a society who considers that each human phase and disturbing emotions has his legal or illegal drug reducing emotions to a flat attitude, taking about introspective therapy seems irrelevant to a system who only expect profit providing efficiency.
